My current research revolves around a range of questions concerning knowledge and expertise in/about international politics, and specifically about violent conflict and international intervention.
My previous research explored a number of topics including the international politics of peace- and statebuilding, causes and courses of armed conflict, myths and narratives in international politics, and political charisma. I keep working on and teaching about these issues.
I am Founding Director of the Centre for the International Politics of Knowledge at Aberystwyth University, which functions as an umbrella for knowledge-related projects at the Department of International Politics and beyond. The Centre has two research streams:
(1) Knowledge production, expertise and evidence in international politics; and
(2) History, philosophy and sociology of knowledge, science and technology.
